“A secluded Georgian Country House offering Self Catering cottages in the Heart of Exmoor National Park”

Situated in our own private valley beneath Dunkery Beacon between Exford and Wheddon Cross we are the ideal base for Hiking, biking or simply chilling out on Exmoor.

“A Peaceful Haven in the Heart of Exmoor”

If you are visiting Exmoor why not choose Cutthorne’s Self Catering Cottages in the Heart of Exmoor National Park as your base. The farm lies in one of the most beautiful parts of the Moor, and has been our home for the past 7 years, running as a small holding breeding Exmoor Horn sheep and a variety of poultry and growing cut flowers for local events, as well as offering the two cottages.  So do come and enjoy its peace and tranquility.  We welcome up to 2 dogs in each cottage for a small extra charge. You are free to explore our 24 acres of fields and lakes and meet the animals first hand, there is normally at least one sheep free field in which to exercise dogs off the lead if required.

The towns of Dulverton and Dunster are within a 20 minute drive, as are the local landmarks of Tar Steps, Exe Head and Porlock Weir.

We offer great base for cycling the wide network of bridle paths which criss-cross the rugged moorland, or take on the hill climb challenges on Dunkery Beacon and Porlock Hill.

Alternatively choose a bracing walk along the stunning coast path,  along any of the pretty river valleys or look out for the red deer and Exmoor ponies on the high moors, before returning to Cutthorne for a hot bath and a comfortable chair in front of the wood burner.

Wonderful stay in the very peaceful surroundings of the farm and perfectly located for exploring exmoor and west Somerset. Thank you Chris for making us feel so welcome for such a nice escape.

We have availability throughout the Year, this coming Easter weekend is now fully booked but we have plenty of space in April and late May for you  to  base  a Spring break from which to explore the Moor.   We welcome up to 2 dogs per cottage for a small supplement and have storage for bikes available if required.

Please  check out the cottage pages for full details of current availability and prices, and come and enjoy all the National Park has to offer.

Operating largely ‘Offgrid’ and in keeping with our green credentials we are delighted to have been awarded Trip Advisor’s Silver Award in their Greenleaders scheme, promoting environmental responsibility across the Industry.  Our water supply comes direct from our own spring, most of our electricity is solar powered and our heating comes from a modern biomass boiler, with logs sourced from hedging and coppiced wood from within the National Park.  That said, we now have Full Fibre Internet available across the farm.

We are delighted to have retained our AirBnB Super Host status for a fifth year in succession.
